American Playwrights Theatre

General Motors funded this A&E cable network series of plays by award-winning American playwrights. Nominated for several CableACE awards, the plays garnered critical acclaim and offered audiences a chance to see rarely-produced works.

Costumes ranged from Revolutionary War uniforms to aliens in business suits. These photos are from four of  the fourteen productions, aired in 1990.
